Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
