It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
